Protesters Rally As Calif. Lawmakers Consider Bills To Regulate Videos Of Police Activity
SACRAMENTO (CBS/AP) -- California lawmakers are considering bills to regulate videos of police activities and law enforcement's acquisition of surplus military equipment as hundreds of Black Lives Matter protesters rally outside the governor's office.
They were protesting a bill that changes the definition of "racial profiling" and would require local law enforcement agencies to collect demographic data.

"California is the leading state in terms of police killings. We've had over 120 just this year. For me that's an injustice," one protester said.
Attorney General Kamala Harris unveiled her answer to the public outcry over safety and police brutality with a website that tracks everything from arrests to officer assault, and deaths of detainees.
Legal analyst Paul Henderson says that kind of access to information is a game changer.
"It is certainly groundbreaking to see the Attorney General come out with an initiative that is so sweeping and so broad in addressing open data, and connecting it to public safety and law enforcement reforms," Henderson said.
