Pregnant Woman Shot In Face During Fresno County Road Rage Incident

FRESNO (CBS/AP) — A pregnant woman in Central California is in critical condition after being shot in the head during a case of road rage, according to authorities.

The Fresno County Sheriff's Office said Tuesday that the 18-year-old woman was a passenger in an SUV driven by her husband. The couple had passed a slow-moving SUV, prompting the other vehicle to pull beside them and shoot.

The bullet went through the driver's side window and struck the woman in the left eye. She is three months pregnant.

Authorities said the man drove his wife to an area hospital; she underwent surgery and remains hospitalized. Her unborn baby survived.

Investigators say the Sunday night shooting was unprovoked, and they continue their search for two or more people in the SUV.

The suspect vehicle was described as a light brown 2006 to 2012 Chevy Tahoe, Suburban or GMC Yukon.

Anyone with information was urged to call the Fresno County Sheriff's Office at (559) 600-3111.
