Nearly 100K Affected By Power Outages As Storm Strikes Bay Area

SAN FRANCISCO (CBS SF) -- PG&E is reporting more than 100,000 customers were without power in the Bay Area as of late Thursday morning because of a large storm hitting the region, PG&E officials said.

At least 152,900 customers in the Bay Area lost power at some point since a massive storm hit the region overnight.

Of the customers still without power as of 9:30 a.m., 93,000 were in San Francisco, 10,300 were in the East Bay, 9,300 were in the Peninsula, 3,600 were in the North Bay and 1,000 were in the South Bay.

PG&E officials said crews are working to minimize the outages and restore power as quickly as possible. Extra crews and resources are responding to the storm, officials said.
