Anti-California Stickers Pop Up On Homes For Sale In Portland, Oregon

PORTLAND, Ore. (CBS SF) – Some people living in Oregon's largest city are not rolling out the welcome mat for homebuyers priced out of the Bay Area. Instead, they are reportedly plastering anti-California stickers on signs advertising homes for sale in the city.

Real estate agents told The Oregonian newspaper that their signs are being plastered with the stickers, which show a silhouette of California with a red slash through it, similar to a "No Smoking" sign.

Lori Fenwick, a realtor, told the newspaper that someone upset with rising real estate prices in Portland posted a sticker saying "STOP THE BUBBLE" over a sign with her name.

Agents said they are dealing with a lot of buyers from California and elsewhere, along with very low inventory.

According to Trulia, the median sales price in Portland from May 15 to August 15 was $350,000, up 7.7 percent over the same time last year.

By comparison, Trulia reported the median sales price from May 15 to August 15 was $1,112,500 in San Francisco and $745,000 in San Jose.
