Police Shoot, Wound Armed Suspect In Vallejo

VALLEJO (CBS SF) -- Investigators are looking into an officer involved shooting of an armed suspect who allegedly raised his gun toward officers Sunday evening.

Shortly before 8:40 p.m., police received multiple 911 calls from residents on Mark Street who reported seeing a man walking back and forth along the street with a gun. Callers described the armed suspect as looked angry while glaring into vehicles as they drove by.

When officers arrived to Mark Street minutes later, the suspect was spotted, then ran though the side yard of a house.

Officers ran after the suspect then the suspect turned around and raised the gun while facing the uniformed officers, police said.

An officer fired his gun, hitting the suspect causing him to fall to the ground. Officers administered life-saving measures until paramedics arrived and transported the suspect to a local trauma center, according to police.

Police are not releasing his name at this time, but said he has an extensive criminal history on gun related charges.

At about 4:30 p.m., police were called to the 100 block of Mark Street on another reported shooting where a victim was found with a gunshot wound to his leg.

The victim was transported to Kaiser hospital but refused to provide police with any useful information as to the shooter, police said.
