I-680 Connector To Hwy 101 In San Jose Reopens After Jumper Talked Down
SAN JOSE (CBS SF) -- The California Highway Patrol has reopened the overpass connecting southbound Interstate Highway 680 and U.S. Highway 101 after a pedestrian threatening to jump was talked down from the ledge.
At about 12:50 p.m., CHP officers responded to the area for a report about a pedestrian on the overpass, according to CHP Officer Ross Lee.
Negotiators contacted the pedestrian, who refused to come down, and were eventually able to get them to safety.
The overpass' closure affected traffic on southbound Highway 680 and northbound Interstate Highway 280 for most of the afternoon. U.S. Highway 101 was not closed during the incident, Lee said.
The overpass reopened by 6 p.m., according to Lee.
Motorists are advised to expect residual delays and to use alternate routes.
