Update: Highway 242 lanes reopened in Concord following hours-long standoff with person in crisis
Northbound lanes of State Highway 242 in Concord were blocked for several hours Wednesday morning after a person experiencing a mental health crisis threatened to jump into freeway traffic near Willow Pass Road, the California Highway Patrol reported.
The northbound lanes of the highway were closed around 7:30 a.m., as was Willow Pass Road between Market Street and Diamond Boulevard. All lanes were reopened at approximately 11:10 a.m., the CHP reported.
A CHP spokesperson said the situation was resolved and the person was taken for a mental health examination.
No injuries were reported.
