Freeway Shooting Blocks Westbound Lanes Of I-80 In Pinole
PINOLE (CBS SF) -- A Severe Traffic Alert was issued Sunday night after all westbound lanes of I-80 at Appian Way in Pinole were closed due to a freeway shooting, according to authorities.
The closure off all westbound lanes went into affect at about 10:24 p.m. The CHP told KPIX 5 that a person in one car shot at a second vehicle, striking the car and injuring one person in the targeted vehicle.
That person transported him or herself to the hospital. A third car that was disabled along the side of I-80 was also struck by at least one bullet. It was unknown if anyone was in that car.
Authorities later reduced the closure to two westbound lanes.
Motorists are advised to expect delays and to use alternate routes. There is no estimated time of opening the roadway.
