Pleasant Hill Police Officer Fatally Shoots Dog Outside Home

PLEASANT HILL (CBS SF) – A police officer shot and killed a dog Sunday morning after the dog allegedly charged at the officer outside of a Pleasant Hill home.

At 11:24 a.m., an officer was dispatched to provide civil advice at a home on Saint Claire Lane, according to police.

When the officer arrived, he was confronted with an unleashed dog that appeared aggressive, police said.

The dog charged at the officer and the officer initially attempted to ward off the dog physically. When that didn't work, the officer shot the dog to protect himself, according to police.

The dog was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.
