Evacuation orders lifted for Piney Fire in Monterey County

Evacuation orders and warnings for residents near the Piney Fire burning in Monterey County have been lifted, Cal Fire said Wednesday evening. 

As of 6 p.m., the fire burning in the Jamesburg area was 30% contained and holding at 221 acres, according to the most recent numbers released by Cal Fire Wednesday evening. 

Evacuation orders are lifted for residents living in zones D074-B and D076-B north of Martin Road, who can now return home, the county said. Evacuation warnings for Zones DO83, D074-A and D076-A are also lifted.

The fire was first reported around 4 p.m. Tuesday and is burning in the Jamesburg, Carmel Valley area. 

There have been no reported injuries to firefighters or residents, and no structures have been harmed, Cal Fire said Wednesday afternoon.
