Pickup Truck Driver Killed In Crash On Highway 24 Offramp Near Orinda

ORINDA (BCN) -- A 60-year-old Brentwood man died after his truck went off westbound state Highway 24 and crashed into a light pole near Orinda early Thursday morning, according to the California Highway Patrol.

Officers responded at 4:54 a.m. to the crash reported on westbound Highway 24 at the Wilder Road off-ramp just east of the Caldecott Tunnel and arrived to find a red Ford Ranger truck had gone off the roadway, overturned and its roof slammed into a metal light pole.

The driver, the sole occupant of the truck, was pronounced dead at the scene and his name has not been released.

Impairment does not appear to be a factor in the crash. Anyone with information about the case is asked to call the CHP's Contra Costa-area office at (925) 646-4980.
