Phil Matier: Uber On The Move Again In San Francisco

SAN FRANCISCO (KCBS) – Ride service company Uber is growing at such a rapid pace that the company is once again having to move its headquarters, this time from Market Street to the Mission Bay neighborhood in San Francisco.

The move is Uber's eighth since the company was founded in 2009. The 423,000 square-foot space on Third Street will have room for at least 2,000 employees.

Uber had just moved into a building in the Mid-Market area four months ago and is expected to keep those offices. But the company is joining a growing trend of businesses relocating to Mission Bay. The neighborhood is expected to be the new home for a Golden State Warriors arena. Once envisioned as a home for just biotech companies, Mission Bay is quickly becoming an area for consumer tech companies as well.

You can hear Phil Matier's comments Monday through Friday at 7:50am and 5:50pm on KCBS All News 740AM and 106.9FM.
