Petaluma Man Arrested For DUI After Crashing Scooter Into Parked Car

PETALUMA (CBS SF) -- A Petaluma resident was arrested in his hometown Friday evening on suspicion of DUI after allegedly crashing an electric scooter into a parked vehicle, police said.

David Mattos, 34, was arrested shortly after the crash, which occurred at about 5:30 p.m. at 101 Ellis St.

Mattos allegedly tried to flee, but the vehicle's owner was able to detain him until police arrived.

When officers spoke with Mattos they allegedly smelled alcohol on his breath. Police said after an investigation they determined that Mattos was allegedly driving under the influence of alcohol.

Officers arrested Mattos and took him to a police station for booking.

Police said Mattos' blood alcohol level was 0.18 percent. The parked vehicle sustained minor damage.
