Person Struck, Killed By BART Train At Union City Station

UNION CITY (CBS SF) -- The Union City BART station has reopened following a fatal pedestrian collision Friday morning, BART officials said.

The incident happened at about 9:30 a.m. Friday. Emergency personnel stood by as the train was rolled away from the spot where the person was hit near the end of the station platform. The body was underneath the train in between the rails.

The Union City station was closed following the incident and an AC Transit bus bridge was established between South Hayward, Union City and Fremont stations.

No details have been released about the incident, but foul play is not suspected, BART police said.

About noon, BART announced that the Union City Station had reopened and normal service was being restored.
