Pedro Fire evacuation orders in Tuolumne, Mariposa counties lifted

Pedro Fire burns more than 3,600 acres near Mariposa-Tuolumne county line

TUOLUMNE COUNTY – All of the evacuation orders were lifted on Thursday after a wildfire erupted near the Tuolumne and Mariposa county lines Tuesday.

The wildfire, named the Pedro Fire, started near Arbolada Road and the Don Pedro Reservoir in the La Grange area. It has burned more than 3,812 acres as of Thursday afternoon.

Containment was also reported to be 20% as of Thursday, Cal Fire says. 

According to the Tuolumne County Sheriff's Office, hundreds of structures were threatened in the area of Piney Creek and Merced Falls Road. At least one structure has been destroyed.

Multiple zones south of the Granite Springs area were under mandatory evacuations or evacuation warnings. All orders and warnings in Tuolumne County were lifted Wednesday evening, while Mariposa County evacuation orders were lifted Thursday. Here is a live evacuation map showing the affected areas.

Highway 132 was also closed from Granite Springs to Narisco Way in Mariposa County.

The area where the fire is burning is about 50 miles east of Modesto in the central Sierra Nevada foothills.
