Pedestrian Killed In San Rafael Crash

SAN RAFAEL (CBS SF) -- One person is dead following a crash between a vehicle and pedestrian in San Rafael this afternoon, fire and California Highway Patrol officials said.

The collision was reported sometime around 12:30 p.m. near Third and Hetherton streets, San Rafael Fire Chief Christopher Gray said.

The CHP's Marin office wrote on Twitter that the collision resulted in a fatality and has prompted the northbound Central San Rafael off-ramp from Interstate Highway 580 to back up to the highway.

No other information about the collision was immediately available from authorities.
