Overturned Car Cleared From Eastbound Richmond-San Rafael Bridge
RICHMOND (CBS SF) -- An overturned vehicle on eastbound I-580 in the middle of the Richmond-San Rafael Bridge slowed traffic during a busy Friday evening commute, according to authorities.
Shortly before 5 p.m., CHP issued a severe traffic alert after the accident involving overturned car blocked the eastbound left lanes on the span.
The accident was cleared by about 5:20 p.m., but a large back-up of vehicles traveling east had already built up on the span and on the Richmond side of the bridge.
Motorists are advised to expect residual delays and to use alternate routes to avoid the area.
