PIX Now - Morning Edition 2/8/24

About 8,600 PG&E customers in the Bay Area are still without power Thursday evening in the wake of a storm that pummeled California this week and brought the highest number of outages in a single day for the utility company.

As of 5 p.m. Thursday, the North Bay was the most impacted, with 6,016 customers affected. There were 1,403 without power in the South Bay; 729 on the Peninsula; 329 in San Francisco; and 111 in the East Bay.

Some schools in Sonoma County will still be closed on Thursday due to power outages and other storm-related issues.

The following schools or school districts are confirmed to be closed:

  • Horicon School
  • Kashia Elementary
  • West Side Elementary

Power losses in the county were triggered by trees falling on power lines due to the effects of severe weather conditions in the Bay Area earlier this week.
