Oakland Police Make Arrests Involving Human Trafficking, Child Prostitution On International Blvd.
OAKLAND (KCBS)— Oakland police have made arrests in two different sexual assault and human trafficking cases, both of which involved juvenile victims.
The Oakland Police Department's Vice & Child Exploitation Unit made the arrests on Thursday. Officer Frank Bonifacio said two people were arrested in two separate investigations.
"One male adult out of Richmond was arrested for a rape and robbery in regards to a human trafficking investigation and an adult male from Oakland was arrested in regards to a sexual assault and human trafficking investigation," he said.
Police have said they've been noticing a lot of teenage prostitutes on International Blvd. for some time.
"They're continuing to do proactive enforcement in regard to prostitution and human trafficking, so hopefully we can put more of an impact on how we can clear up some of the streets on the International Boulevard corridor and help the neighbors with their quality of life issues there,"
Oakland police have said that so far this year they've arrested about 100 people on International Blvd. associated with human trafficking.
