Update: Suspect vehicle located in Oakland after report of kidnapping attempt; 1 arrested

Oakland Police ask for public's help in solving possible kidnapping

OAKLAND -- Police searching for a vehicle involved in a possible kidnapping found the vehicle Wednesday afternoon after releasing a photo and license plate number.

Oakland Police said that just before 2:00 p.m., a community member reported witnessing a possible kidnapping from the 10200 block of E Street.  

Police credited community members and media partners with helping investigators find the vehicle of interest, a white pickup truck which was reported stolen.

Investigators later determined that a kidnapping did not occur, but one person was arrested in connection with the stolen vehicle.

At witness had previously reported observing two males force a female into the Chevrolet pickup truck.

Anyone with additional information about the incident or the vehicle was asked to notify the Oakland Police Department's Special Victims Section at 510-238-3641.
