Cash App founder Bob Lee's family speaks out against Nima Momeni's "immediate circle" after verdict
Members of Cash App founder Bob Lee's family had sharp criticism Tuesday for those close to Nima Momeni, who was convicted of second-degree murder in Lee's 2023 stabbing death in San Francisco.
Lee's family and ex-wife Krista Lee spoke to reporters outside the courtroom after the verdict was read in San Francisco Superior Court, delivering a pointed rebuke of the people in Momeni's orbit and leveling accusations about their involvement.
Lee's brother, Timothy Oliver Lee, denounced those in Momeni's "immediate circle."
"We believe that all of them should feel as guilty as Nima does," he said.
Krista Lee, who was outspoken about the case during the trial, joined Lee's brother in condemning those around Momeni.
"The blood is on their hands," she said.
Prosecutors said Momeni stabbed Lee in the early morning hours of April 4, 2023, in the city's East Cut/Rincon neighborhood in a fit of rage over Lee's relationship with Momeni's sister and their drug use. Defense attorneys maintained that Momeni stabbed Lee in self-defense.
In reacting to the verdict, Krista Lee argued Tuesday that Momeni's family members should also be held accountable for Momeni's actions.
"Our fight is not over yet," she said.
Evidence during the trial revealed that Momeni granted his sister and mother the power of attorney a few days after the stabbing to sell his BMW, the same car he was alleged to have he fled in. Momeni also stored the car at his mother's house in a carport directly after Lee's death, according to Assistant District Attorney Omid Talai.
"We're happy that Nima Momeni will not be on the streets and no longer has the opportunity to harm anybody else in this world," Timothy Oliver Lee said. "The verdict of murder two will put him away for a long time."
