NFL Twitter Account Hacked, Hoax Tweet Says Commissioner Goodell Died

(CBS SF) – The National Football League's official Twitter account apparently was hacked Tuesday morning, sending out bogus tweets saying commissioner Roger Goodell had died.

The first tweet about Goodell was sent to the league's more than 19 million Twitter followers around 9:30 a.m.

It was deleted soon after, but hackers were able to send additional tweets.

NFL spokesman Brian McCarthy told The Associated Press Tuesday: "We have engaged law enforcement to look into the matter. We are reviewing and strengthening our cyber-security measures."

Several celebrity Twitter accounts have been hacked in recent days, including Drake, Kylie Jenner and Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg.
