N.W.A. Won't Perform at Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Ceremony

On Friday, April 8th, legendary rap group N.W.A. will be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. While fans can't wait to see it happen, one thing they won't be seeing is a performance from the guys with attitude. According to an interview Ice Cube did with The New York Times, N.W.A. won't be taking the stage to celebrate their Hall of Fame induction.

"Nah, we’re not performing. I guess we really didn’t feel like we were supported enough to do the best show we could put on," Cube said.

When asked, Ice Cube candidly stated there was a lack of support of their performance from the ceremony's organizers. "We wanted to do it on a whole other level, and that just couldn’t happen. But we’re totally honored, humbled and appreciative to the Hall for even just considering us, inducting us and inviting us."

N.W.A. saw a surge in popularity last year with the release of the biopic Straight Outta Compton. Cube says it was the film that helped them get into the Hall of Fame. "I think it was the thing that put us over the top. The movie was able to remind them of the impact of the group on pop culture and that the music is just as much rock ’n’ roll as anything. Rock ’n’ roll is a form of sped-up blues to me," Cube opined.

Every surviving member including - Dr. Dre, Ice Cube, MC Ren, DJ Yella - are slated to be in attendance. With N.W.A. not performing, maybe that leaves room for a special tribute by Kendrick Lamar. He is inducting them. A performance from Kendrick would be icing on the cake.
