Mountain Lion Spotted In Woodside

WOODSIDE (CBS SF) -- A mountain lion was sighted in Woodside Saturday night, according to the San Mateo County Office of Emergency Services.

The incident occurred at 10:16 p.m. Saturday in the vicinity of Canada and Edgewood roads, according to the OES.

Officials advise area residents not to approach mountain lions, especially if they're feeding or with offspring. People should avoid hiking or jogging from dusk to sunrise, and keep a close watch on small children.

In the event of a mountain lion encounter, officials advise against running. Instead they advise facing the lion, throw rocks or other objects and trying to look bigger by waving one's arms.
