Morgan Hill Man Critically Hurt In Early-Morning Hit-And-Run Crash Near San Jose
SAN JOSE (CBS SF) -- A Morgan Hill man suffered major injuries in a hit-and-run crash near San Jose early Saturday morning, according to the California Highway Patrol.
A 911 caller reported a solo vehicle crash on McKean Road, south of Hunter's Hill Road, in unincorporated Santa Clara County at 2:16 a.m.
Responding officers found a found a man who appeared to have been struck by a vehicle lying in a ditch on the shoulder, roughly 100 yards from an Isuzu SUV that had gone off the roadway.
Investigators determined that the victim, later identified as 34-year-old Jonathan Calamateos, had crashed the Isuzu and was attempting to flag down assistance when he was struck by another vehicle that apparently fled the scene.
He was unable to provide a description of the suspect vehicle and no other witnesses were found.
Calamateos was transported to a hospital in critical condition with a broken arm and internal injuries.
