Pair Of Small Earthquakes Strike Monterey County
MONTEREY COUNTY (CBS SF) -- Two small earthquakes struck Monterey County about an hour apart Wednesday morning, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.
Around 8:20 a.m., a magnitude 2.5 earthquake struck about 11 miles northeast of Salinas, at a depth of 6 miles, the USGS reported. About an hour later, a magnitude 3.7 earthquake struck about 13 miles northeast of the community of Gonzales and about 22 miles east of Salinas, at a depth of 4.5 miles.
Visitors to the USGS website from Monterey and San Benito Counties reported feeling weak to light shaking from the second earthquake. There are no immediate reports of damage or injuries from either quake.
