Missing Man May Be Victim Whose Mutilated Remains Were Found Inside Suitcase On San Francisco Street

SAN FRANCISCO (CBS SF) -- San Francisco Police are investigating whether a missing Bay Area man is the victim whose dismembered remains were found inside a suitcase last week.

The missing man is reportedly a friend and former roommate of suspect Mark Andrus.

He was already reported missing when the suitcase was discovered in the South of Market neighborhood last week.

Investigators are trying to confirm if there's a DNA match. Identification through dental records or fingerprints is impossible since the remains did not include a head or hands, according to the San Francisco Chronicle.

Andrus, 59, was arrested Saturday in connection after the body parts were found in the suitcase at 11th and Mission streets Wednesday afternoon.

Additional remains were found in a trash can half a block away from the original scene.

Officers detained two people at the scene, one of whom has been confirmed as Andrus. He was arrested on suspicion of murder and booked into county jail early Saturday morning, according to police.
