Grass Fire On Mines Road In Livermore Hills Burns 11 Acres
LIVERMORE (CBS SF) -- Firefighters contained a vegetation fire on Mines Road in Livermore that burned around 11 acres, Cal Fire said Monday evening.
The fire, first reported shortly after 2 p.m., had a "moderate to dangerous" rate of spread, Cal Fire said on Twitter. The fire was dubbed the Mines Fire.
Aircraft support dropped flame retardant around the perimeter of the blaze, which resulted in "good progress" in slowing down the fire's rate of spread, Cal Fire said.
The retardant gave ground resources time to arrive to the scene to assist with containment.
Crews will remain on the scene Monday evening to conduct mop up operations.
