Mental Health Evaluation Requested For Man Suspected In Sheriff's Deputy Murder Near Modesto
KCRA reports (http://bit.ly/2eZZbYm ) Monday that David Machado's attorney asked the court to declare Machado incompetent to stand trial in the shooting death of Deputy Dennis Wallace.
Officials say Machado will be evaluated by a court-appointed mental health professional, who will report back to the court as to whether Machado is able to understand the nature of the proceedings against him or assist his attorney in his defense.
Machado was arrested Nov. 13 in Tulare County after an hours-long manhunt following the killing of Wallace, who was shot twice in the head.
