Man Wanted In Vallejo Murder Arrested In Peru

VALLEJO (CBS SF) -- Authorities in Peru arrested a man in connection with a homicide in Vallejo last year, Vallejo police said Wednesday.

An extensive investigation following the Feb. 4, 2013, death of Vallejo resident Jimmie Richardson led to Vallejo police identifying William Cordoba, of Vallejo, as the suspect in the crime, according to police.

Richardson was found dead from multiple gunshot wounds at about 4:20 a.m. on a sidewalk on Evelyn Circle north of Borges Street, police said.

Investigators identified Cordoba, who also goes by William Johnson, as a suspect in the murder last June.

Police, in collaboration with the U.S. Marshals, learned that Cordoba was in Lima, Peru. Peruvian authorities arrested Cordoba on March 21 on a U.S. provisional arrest request, police said.

Cordoba will be extradited to California to face murder charges, according to police.
