Man Shot And Killed In What Police Call East San Jose Gang-Related Incident

SAN JOSE (KCBS)— San Jose Police are investigating the city's 21st homicide, where a man was shot and killed Monday afternoon on the 200 block of Gramercy Place.  According to investigators the victim was pronounced dead after being taken to a nearby hospital in what police are calling a gang-related incident that occurred around 3:39 p.m.

Witnesses said the victim, in his 20s was shot by two or three suspects in the middle of the street near Alum Rock and Interstate 680. Homicide investigators interviewed witnesses at the scene.

Police are looking for Hispanic men who are suspects that may be driving a grey SUV or truck.

Kathy Franco said she knew the victim most of his life and was completely distraught.

"I could just see him lying on the floor with blood all over him. On his back and on his face and his girlfriend was over him, just crying and crying. I didn't believe it. I had to drive over here and see because I didn't hear the gunshots. When I got here I [saw] the blood all over him. It's awful," she cried.

Dean Williams who has lived in the area for the last 10 years, said it's gotten really bad.

"There's always some type of shooting or activity. Some type of fighting, stabbing. Just a few months ago someone was shot and killed in a drive by. There's always some type of violence going on, on that street," he said.
