Man Arrested For Allegedly Stealing Multiple Mercedes-Benz Cars From Belmont Dealership
SAN JOSE (CBS SF) -- One of eight cars that was stolen early last Sunday morning from a Belmont auto dealership has been recovered with a suspect in custody.
Thieves hit Autobahn Mercedes dealership in Belmont last Sunday morning driving off with eight cars.
"The suspects broke into an outbuilding that had key boxes. They broke into the key boxes, took the keys and then stole the vehicles from the lot," Belmont Police Captain Patrick Halleran told KPIX 5.
Six of the eight vehicles stolen from the dealership had been recovered Tuesday after they were all found abandoned in Oakland.
On Wednesday night, the California Highway Patrol located the vehicle, a 2013 Mercedes ML350, and arrested 24-year-old Jeremy Redwood of Oakland.
He was booked into the Alameda County Jail on multiple charges including auto theft, possession of stolen property and violation of probation.
Three other Bay Area auto dealerships were hit last weekend with cameras catching thieves driving off in high-end vehicles.
