Man Accused Of Holding Family Hostage At Gunpoint In Antioch
ANTIOCH (CBS SF) -- An Antioch man was arrested Wednesday afternoon after he allegedly held his family hostage at gunpoint and then chased after them in a vehicle when they escaped, according to police.
Police received a call at 1:22 p.m. from a 12-year-old girl reporting that the suspect, a 43-year-old man, was holding her and six family members at gunpoint at a home on the 2000 block of Sherman Court and refusing to them leave, according to Sgt. Tarra Nissen.
While the girl was on the phone, her family was able to escape the house and get into their vehicle.
As officers arrived, the suspect was allegedly pursuing them in his vehicle and refused to yield to police, Nissen said.
Police had the family lead the suspect to the Antioch Police Department, where officers were able to stop the suspect vehicle. The suspect refused to leave his vehicle, but officers eventually broke the side window and removed him, Nissen said.
Police located several firearms in the vehicle.
No one was injured in the incident. The suspect was taken into custody without further incident.
