Magnitude 6.6 Aftershock Hits Chile Just Days After 8.3 Earthquake
SANTIAGO, Chile (CBS SF) — A magnitude 6.6 aftershock struck near the coast of Chile Monday, just days after a massive 8.3 magnitude quake hit the area, but there was no immediate tsunami threat.
The USGS reported the 6.6 magnitude earthquake that struck about 28 miles west southwest of Illapel, Chile around 10:40 a.m. pacific time Monday morning.
No damage or injuries were immediately reported.
