Magnitude 3.8 Earthquake Strikes South Of Hollister

HOLLISTER (CBS SF) – A magnitude 3.8 earthquake struck San Benito County Monday morning, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.

According to the USGS, the earthquake struck at 9:17 a.m. The epicenter was about 10 miles south-southeast of Hollister, 7.5 miles south-southeast of Ridgemark and 16 miles east of Salinas.

Officials said the depth of the earthquake was 3.04 miles.

The earthquake was felt as far away as Carmel Valley in Monterey County, according to visitors to the USGS website.
