Teen Gets Life Sentence For Guy Fieri Lamborghini Heist, Murder Attempt
SAN RAFAEL (CBS SF) -- Marin County teenager Max Wade was sentenced Thursday to life in state prison with the possibility of parole for the attempted murder of a romantic rival in Mill Valley in April 2012.
The charge stemmed from an incident in which Wade, 19, fired multiple shots at Landon Wahlstrom, then 18, and his girlfriend Eva Dedier, then 17, as they sat in a car near Mill Valley on April 13, 2012.
He was also sentenced to 20 years in prison for the intentional discharge of a firearm, and 16 months for a separate incident in which he stole celebrity chef Guy Fieri's Lamborghini from a British Motors auto dealership in San Francisco on March 8, 2011. The sentences will be served consecutively.
Wade was a juvenile at the time of the car theft and the attempted murder but he was prosecuted as an adult.
He showed no emotion during his sentencing Thursday before Marin County Superior Court Judge Kelly Vieira Simmons, but he thanked the judge for giving him a fair trial.
Wade has more than 731 days' credit for time served, according to defense attorney Charles Dresow.
Marin County Deputy District Attorney Yvette Martinez said, "The sentencing is entirely appropriate. The punishment fits the crime."
Wade was acquitted of attempting to murder Wahlstrom's girlfriend, Dedier.
