Large Tree Limb Lands On Power Lines In Woodside; Highway 84 Closed Both Directions

WOODSIDE (KCBS) — Tuesday morning's storm caused a large tree branch to fall and land onto some power lines in Woodside blocking lanes on Highway 84 and leading to some outages.

 

The high-tension lines did not snap but were stretched by the branch of the large oak tree. Fire crews told KCBS that the lines might "snap back" causing some arcing.

Both direction of Highway 84are blocked at Cañada Lane.

Fire crews were on the scene waiting for Caltrans and PG&E crews to arrive.

The incident was just short distance from the the Woodside fire station and crews were on the scene shortly after the branch fell.

Update: At 9 a.m., a tree cutting crew from Caltrans was standing by waiting for PG&E crews to remove the power cables.

There was estimated time given by the San Mateo Sheriff's Office.
