UPDATE: Forward Progress of Kentfield Car Fire that Spread to Nearby Vegetation Stopped

KENTFIELD (CBS SF) -- Fire units have stopped the forward spread of a vegetation fire in Kentfield that was started by a car fire Monday afternoon, according to Marin County authorities.

The Marin County Sheriff's Office Twitter account posted about the fire on Goodhill Road near Tree Top Way at around 1:22 p.m. Monday.

The fire reportedly started at around 1:12 p.m. on the 500 block of Goodhill Road.

Marin County sheriff's deputies are going door-to-door to make contact with residents close to the fire, according to an advisory from the sheriff's office.

Residents of Kent Woodlands are asked to shelter in place. Fire units are on scene with additional resources responding to the area, the sheriff's office said.

The Marin County Sheriff tweeted that forward progress of the fire had been stopped as of 1:36 p.m.
