Kaepernick Among Other San Francisco Sports Figures To Face Sexual Impropriety Accusations
SAN FRANCSICO (CBS SF) -- The accusations facing San Francisco 49ers star quarterback Colin Kaepernick are among other recent claims of sexual impropriety against the city's pro sports figures.
Last June, former San Francisco Giants pitcher Chad Gaudin was accused of lewdness for allegedly groping a woman and touching her breast as she lay on a gurney at a Las Vegas hospital.
Police said Gaudin appeared drunk at the time, but his lawyer said Gaudin was experiencing symptoms of confusion and disorientation due to renal failure and denied Gaudin exhibited any unlawful conduct.
In January 2013, a woman accused San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Michael Crabtree of sexually assaulting her at the W Hotel in downtown San Francisco.
Police said Crabtree was never detained or arrested in the matter, and the district attorney's office said no charges would be filed after a review of the evidence.
The announcement from the DA was made during the week before the 49ers played the Baltimore Ravens in the Super Bowl.
In June of 2012, the Santa Cruz County Sheriff's Office declined to charge Giants All-Star 3rd baseman Pablo Sandoval after a 21-year-old woman filed a sexual assault complaint, saying there was insufficient evidence to support an arrest.
Sandoval's lawyer said a sexual encounter between the Sandoval and the woman was consensual.
