Juvenile Leads Police On Chase From Concord To Pittsburg In Stolen Vehicle

PITTSBURG (CBS SF) -- A juvenile driver in a stolen vehicle involved in a hit-and-run led police on a chase from Concord to Pittsburg Wednesday afternoon before her and an adult passenger were arrested, police said.

A Concord police officer on Willow Pass Road at 3:54 p.m.  Wednesday tried to stop a suspected hit-and-run vehicle, which was later found to a Ford Fusion reported stolen out of San Francisco. Police said the driver fled.

The 12.5-mile pursuit took officers through several Concord streets, then onto northbound state Highway 242 and eastbound state Highway 4 before it finally ended in Pittsburg.

A 17-year-old girl from San Lorenzo was at the wheel of the car, police said. Gustavo Sandoval, 20, of Concord, was the passenger identified by police.

Both were arrested on suspicion of vehicle theft. Police said the juvenile was additionally booked on a felony count of evading police, as well as possession of a dangerous weapon and hit-and-run.

Sandoval was booked into county jail and the teen was taken to juvenile hall.
