Juvenile Arrested On Attempted Murder Charge For Union City Stabbing

UNION CITY (CBS SF) -- A juvenile has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder for allegedly stabbing a man in Union City on Monday night after a verbal altercation, police said.

Officers responded to the 34900 block of Peco Street, about two blocks east of Decoto Road, at about 6:30 p.m. on Monday after the Alameda County Fire Department asked police for assistance with a man who had been stabbed multiple times, police said.

The victim, a man, was transported to Eden Medical Center in Castro Valley with potentially life-threatening injuries but he was treated for his wounds and is expected to survive, according to police.

Union City police developed information on the suspect's identity and whereabouts and a short time later he was located at his home and taken into custody without incident, police said.

The suspect is being held at the Alameda County Juvenile Hall in San Leandro, according to police.

It will be up to the Alameda County District Attorney's Office to decide whether the suspect should be charged as an adult or as a juvenile, police said.
