Jimi Hendrix's '69 Fillmore Concert To Release In September
By Brian Ives
(RADIO.COM) – Surely, you need another Jimi Hendrix live recording in your collection.
If the previous sentence rings true with you, then you'll be glad to know about the impending release of Machine Gun: The Fillmore East First Show 12/31/69, fully documenting the debut performance by Hendrix's Band of Gypsys, which featured Billy Cox on bass and Buddy Miles on drums and vocals.
The group played four historic concerts at the Fillmore East in New York City – two on New Year's Eve 1969, and two on New Year's Day 1970. As the title suggests, the album featured first of these sets. Most of the performances contained within have never been released. The classic album Band of Gypsys culled highlights from all four shows.
Machine Gun: The Fillmore East First Show 12/31/69 is due out September 30. The setlist is below:
- Power Of Soul
- Lover Man
- Hear My Train A Comin'
- Changes
- Izabella
- Machine Gun
- Stop
- Ezy Ryder
- Bleeding Heart
- Earth Blues
- Burning Desire
