Fiery Crash Disrupts Morning Commute On I-80 Near Vacaville

VACAVILLE (CBS SF) – All lanes of Interstate Highway 80 have reopened in both directions near Vacaville on Tuesday morning after closing when a van carrying gas tanks caught fire and there were concerns it would explode, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The crash was first reported at 5:49 a.m. on the highway at Cherry Glen Road.

A commercial van that contained flammable gas caught fire after a collision but the gas tanks did not explode, CHP Officer David Harvey said.

The collision closed all lanes of Highway 80 in both directions.

The eastbound lanes reopened by around 7 a.m. and the westbound lanes reopened about an hour later, according to the CHP.
