Listeria Fear Causes Voluntary Hummus Recall From Target, Trader Joe's
DALLAS (CBS SF) - The FDA announced this week that nearly seven tons of hummus and dips have been recalled nationwide due to possible bacterial contamination.
According to CBS Dallas, Manufacturer Hot Mama's Foods announced that it has voluntarily pulled several dip products from Target and Trader Joe's store shelves due to concerns about possible contamination by listeria, a potentially life-threatening food-borne bacterium.
The products included hummus and dips distributed by Target under the Archer Farms label; Traditional Hummus (10 oz and 2lb), Roasted Garlic with Roasted Garlic Tapenade (17 oz) Roasted Red Pepper with Roasted Red Pepper Topping (17 oz) and at Trader Joe's; Edamame Hummus (8oz) 5 Layered Dip Small (11.5oz and 24oz).
Consumers who have purchased the above hummus products are urged not to eat it and to dispose of it or return it to the place of purchase for a full refund.
