Highway 37 Fully Reopened Ahead Of IndyCar Event At Sonoma Raceway
NAPA (CBS SF) - The California Highway Patrol has given the all clear on Highway 37 after checking the roadway following a significant earthquake in American Canyon early Sunday morning.
The CHP shut parts of roadway at Sonoma Boulevard at 4:30 a.m. to check for structural damage after the magnitude 6.1 earthquake centered nearby. The section being inspected is the elevated bridge segment which connects I-80 with downtown Vallejo and wine country. I serves as one of the primary arteries to wine country and Sonoma Raceway.

A prolonged closure to Highway 37 would have created significantly traffic problems for the 10th annual GoPro Grand Prix, scheduled for 1:40 p.m.
"The raceway and its facilities experienced no damage from this morning's 6.0-magnitude earthquake, which was centered in nearby American Canyon. All major systems, including the 12-turn road course, have been inspected by officials, and all emergency responders will be on-site at the facility, as planned. No fans or campers were injured during the quake," course officials said in a release.
Callers into the KCBS newsroom reported seeing cracks of more than an inch on other roadways in Napa County.
