UPDATE: Lockdown Of Hercules Neighborhood Lockdown Due To Police Activity Lifted

HERCULES (CBS SF) -- Contra Costa County authorities have lifted a lockdown in the community of Hercules Wednesday night that was prompted due to police activity.

"An All Clear has been issued for the lockdown in Hercules. The area has been cleared and it is safe to resume normal activities," a post on the Contra Costa County Sheriff's Office Community Warning System website said after 8:30 p.m.

Earlier, police advised residents in the in the Trees neighborhood near Redwood Road and Lupine Road to stay indoors. Authorities issued an alert shortly before 5:30 p.m., advising people in the area to lockdown in the nearest place of safety.

Additional details about what prompted the lockdown were not immediately available Wednesday night.
