Health Officials Warn Dogs & Breweries Don't Mix

TACOMA, Wash. (AP) -- You can love brew and you can love dogs -- but you can't love both in the Tacoma, Washington, area. At least not in bars.

County health officials are warning that it's against the health code to allow customers to bring their four-legged buddies along when visiting a bar or brewery.

The News Tribune reports the regulation applies to locations where beer is served in reusable glassware, even on the patio.

There are some exceptions, including service animals. Dogs are still welcome in bars with plastic cups that don't serve food.

Pierce County health officials say they've gotten complaints about pooches in brewpubs.
