Harbaugh Has Moved On; 49ers CEO York, GM Baalke Face The Wrath Of The Fans
SAN FRANCISCO (KPIX 5) -- If there was any question about the split, Jim Harbaugh appears to already be over his breakup with the 49ers.
A photo on Twitter showed the now-former 49ers coach arriving in Michigan.
Tuesday Harbaugh is expected to be announced as the new coach of the University of Michigan Wolverines.
Back in the Bay Area, fans were doing a lot of angry finger-pointing, but not at Harbaugh.
Most of the ire is directed at the 49ers CEO Jed York, and General Manager Trent Baalke.
York and General Manager Trent Baalke had to face the press, Tuesday for what the team called, the "mutual decision to part ways."
"I guarantee if I know one thing, we are not going to win today's press conference. That's not gonna happen," said York.
When asked what went wrong for the season, York told reporters, "We didn't win the Super Bowl, we're not executing on our vision. Our mission is very simple: The San Francisco 49ers win with class. We haven't won and I don't think we've conducted ourselves with the level of class we expect of our organization."
York cited "philosophical differences" with Harbaugh, but said the true breaking point was the lack of new Lombardi trophies.
As for Harbaugh, he didn't hear a word of Monday's press conference. He was airborne in a private plane, bound for Michigan.
