Guests At Clooney Wedding Given 'Burner' Phones, Asked To Sign Non-Disclosure Agreements
VENICE (CBS SF) -- George Clooney and his new bride went to great lengths to keep their wedding day private from the public, even making guests leave their smartphones at home in exchange for 'burner' phones to avoid photo leaks.
Clooney and new wife Amal Alamuddin reportedly asked guests no to share any photos of the big day.
"I think in this situation, he's done something that maybe will be followed in the future by other people that want to protect their identity and secrecy," private investigator Rick Smith said.
Smith, a former FBI agent says with technology and high profile hackers this could be the new way of the celebrity wedding.
"I guess it depends on how much privacy you want and how much money you have," he said.
Guests could take as many photos on the phones provided, but any leaked photos could be easily traced back to the guest with unique codes attached to the phones.
"You can't trust everybody," Smith said.
The Clooney camp even asked guests to sign non-disclosure agreements.
The couple has an exclusive deal with Vogue Magazine for the wedding photos. They planned to give the proceeds to charity.
