Great White Shark Caught On Video Near Ocean Beach Surfers

SAN FRANCISCO (CBS SF) – A video of what is believed to be a great white shark leaping out of the water at Ocean Beach just beyond a line of surfers was making the rounds Thursday.

The video, captured by the camera stationed at Ocean Beach by surfing website Surfline.com, showed what is estimated to be a seven or eight foot juvenile great white shark breaching the water just past the surf break Wednesday morning.

In an article posted on the website, longtime Ocean Beach surfer Nick Masturzo said he spotted the shark at around 8:45 a.m.

"I saw it straight on," Masturzo told Surfline.com. "And when I saw that white belly go up and the super defined white of pectoral fins I knew what it was."

Masturzo shared what he saw with the other surfers out trying to catch a wave. While some of the surfers came in, others braved the waters instead of heading for the beach.

According to the website, there has never been a documented shark attack on Ocean Beach.
